| This delightful 17th Century Inn built in 1683 takes its name from
its original function as a ‘toll gate’ for people travelling
east or west, north or south. With a growing reputation for fabulous
food, a beautiful garden and outside seating the Gate Inn is a place
you will want to return to again and again.
Quality
is the most important thing to all of us here at the "Yat".
It is essential to us that local fresh ingredients from 'independent'
Cumbrian producers and suppliers are used. Our meat is all Cumbrian.
Occasionally we've been known to stray across county borders
for a particular
breed of animal, but no more than a few miles! The words "free
range" and "organic" are
in the forefront of our minds when placing any order and our
fish is delivered fresh every day from a merchant in a neighbouring
county.
Cumbria benefits from no less than 16 breweries. While
our cousins in Yorkshire claim to make the best ale in the
country we would argue against this! At Yanwath we try to represent
at least
three of these fine Cumbrian breweries at any one time.
The ethos of the ‘Yanwath Gate Inn’ is good quality
informal dining. We are a country pub with dining rooms. The
atmosphere and service should be relaxed and comfortable.
Bookings Highly Recommended We are situated on the B5320 close to Ullswater and just 2 minutes
from Penrith (see location page for more details) |
